Here is the link to all my books available right now: https://www.amazon.com/Hope-Hopkins/e/B00PIVVKXC/ref=dp_byline_cont_pop_ebooks_1 Hey guys sorry I'm late, I didn't know three months passed. Sorry about that been really busy, here's part 6. :) Based on Vashti's descendant from king Nebuchadnezzar, who was responsible for the destruction of the first temple built by Solomon as well as her unhappy fate, the Mid-rash presents Vashti as wicked and vain. Since Vashti is ordered to appear before the king on the seventh day of the feast, the rabbis argued that Vashti enslaved Jewish women and forced them to work on the Sabbath. According to the Mid-rashic account, Vashti was a savvy politician, and the ladies' banquet that she held in parallel to Xerxes banquet, represented an astute political maneuver. Since the noble women of the kingdom would be present at her banquet, she would have control of a valuable group of hostages in case a coup d'état occurred during the king's feast. But due to her refusal of the king’s request, she was banished. The part where it said the king burned with anger, shows he had a bad temper, but not your average bad temper. It was mixed with some craziness. Xerxes was known for his fits of rage. One time he had a bridge built by 300 of his men. They were almost finished with it but a bad storm came from the sea and tore the bridge and damaged his ships and killed his men. So, in a fit of rage Xerxes ran out to the sea and started beating the ocean waves for destroying his bridge, ships and men. After that he killed the 300 men that built the bridge. So it’s a shocker Xerxes didn’t kill Vashti for her disobedience, he only banish her from the kingdom, never to return. After Vashti’s refusal a royal decree was issued, it was written in the laws of Persia and Media, which cannot be repealed. Vashti was never again to enter the presence of King Xerxes. It was then said that the king give her royal position to someone else who is better than she. 20Then when the king’s edict is proclaimed throughout all his vast realm, all the women will respect their husbands, from the least to the greatest.” Now this is where Esther comes on the scene. In chapter 2 of Esther it reads: 1After these things when the anger of King Ahasuerus had subsided, he remembered Vashti and what she had done and what had been decreed against her. As a side note according to Persian law once the king made a decree he could not change it even though he was the one that wrote it. At this time King Xerxes lost his battle to the Greeks. Continuing on 2Then the king’s attendants, who served him, said, “Let beautiful young virgins be sought for the king. 3“Let the king appoint overseers in all the provinces of his kingdom that they may gather every beautiful young virgin to the citadel of Susa, to the harem, into the custody of Hegai, the king’s eunuch, who is in charge of the women; and let their cosmetics be given them. 4“Then let the young lady who pleases the king be queen in place of Vashti.” And the matter pleased the king, and he did accordingly. Now there was at the citadel in Susa a Jew whose name was Mordecai, the son of Jair, the son of Shimei, the son of Kish, a Benjamite, 6who had been taken into exile from Jerusalem with the captives who had been exiled with Jeconiah king of Judah, whom Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon had exiled. 7He was bringing up Hadassah, that is Esther, his uncle’s daughter, for she had no father or mother. Now the young lady was beautiful of form and face, and when her father and her mother died, Mordecai took her as his own daughter. Thanks for stopping by, you guys are awesome! until next time. Hey everybody I know I am so late, I have been really busy writing books sorry about that guys. Here's part 5 of Esther's story. Skipping ahead to the ninth verse it reads Queen Vashti also gave a banquet for the women in the royal palace of King Xerxes. Another side note, the social customs in that time where women never dined with their husbands, it was always separate. Now in the10 verse On the seventh day, when King Xerxes was in high spirits from wine, he commanded the seven eunuchs who served him—Mehuman, Biztha, Harbona, Bigtha, Abagtha, Zethar and Karkas to bring before him Queen Vashti, wearing her royal crown, in order to display her beauty to the people and nobles, for she was lovely to look at. 12But when the attendants delivered the king’s command, Queen Vashti refused to come. Then the king became furious and burned with anger. King Xerxes command for the appearance of Queen Vashti is interpreted by several midrashic sources as an order to appear unclothed for the attendees of the king's banquet. Wearing only her crown and nothing else. [2] Though it was common in the culture for dancers to entertain the king's guests, it was a Persian custom that "the queen, even more than the wives of other men, was secluded from the public gaze",[3] suggesting that this command was highly inappropriate. King Xerxes has been described as a sensualist which means a person devoted to physical, especially sexual, pleasure. It is also said that he ruled with no wisdom even though he ruled an empire that was great. According to the Mid-rash, Vashti was the great-granddaughter of King Nebuchadnezzar II of Babylon, the granddaughter of King Amel-Marduk and the daughter of King Belshazzar. During Vashti's father's rule, mobs of Medes and Persians attacked. They murdered Belshazzar that night. Vashti, unknowing of her father's death, ran to her father's quarters. There she was kidnapped by King Darius of Persia, Xerxes father. But Darius took pity on her and gave her to his son, Xerxes, to marry. So it was obvious queen Vashti had resentment against her husband the king. Which is understandable since Xerxes father was responsible for her father’s death. Until next time, thank you for stopping by, you guys are awesome, if want to comment please do. Have a great week. Hello everyone, sorry I'm late, merry Christmas and happy new year. Here's part 4 of Esther's story.
Xerxes was a bit on the crazy side. At that time, he had a dilemma, Alexander the great in the West was showing his military strength by expanding his kingdom and borders to the east. So, there was a conflict between the East and the West. Xerxes was trying to conquer the Greeks and the Greeks were trying to conquer the Persian Empire. With all this conflict, Xerxes calls all his nobles from 127 provinces which extended from India down to Africa including the Fertile Crescent which Israel laid in parts of, Asia minor all the way in to extend parts in Europe. They are all gathered around for a six-month feast which was one of the biggest feasts in history. Now knowing all this back history to explain why King Xerxes was having a feast, the true purpose of this lavish party was he was trying to devise a war plan because Greece was a threat. He wants to convince the princes of the provinces to help him fight against the Greek Empire to gain victory and maintain controlling the world. Now in verse four it reads, For a full 180 days he displayed the vast wealth of his kingdom and the splendor and glory of his majesty. Now 180 days rounds up to six months, that’s a long feast but continuing on in verse five, 5When these days were over, the king gave a banquet, lasting seven days, in the enclosed garden of the king’s palace, for all the people from the least to the greatest who were in the citadel of Susa. 6The garden had hangings of white and blue linen, fastened with cords of white linen and purple material to silver rings on marble pillars. Hey guys, I know I'm a bit late but here is part 3 to Esther. Now let’s start with the book of Esther the first chapter, first we will talk about how she became Queen which starts with Queen Vashti and King Xerxes. Queen Vashti Deposed 1This is what happened during the time of Xerxes,a also called (Ahasuerus) in the Hebrew Bible, his actual name was Xerxes but he was given the title of (Ahasuerus) like the pharaohs. You remember how one Pharaoh was called Ramses but his title was called Pharaoh, (Ahasuerus) is basically another name for King. Xerxes was called the King of Kings and (Ahasuerus) means King of Kings. Xerxes who ruled over 127 provinces stretching from India to Cushb : 2At that time King Xerxes reigned from his royal throne in the citadel of Susa, 3and in the third year of his reign he gave a banquet for all his nobles and officials. The military leaders of Persia and Media, the princes, and the nobles of the provinces were present. As a note at a certain time, Daniel predicted Nebuchadnezzar losing control of the kingdom and in time the Babylonian kingdom fell in the hands of the Medes and the Persians. It was Cyrus the Persian King who allowed the Jews to go back to their homeland and rebuild the temple in Jerusalem. 48,000 Jews went back to Jerusalem with Ezra. A few more thousand went back to Jerusalem with Nehemiah, rounding up to about 50,000 Jews in total left Persia. And the reason why I am focusing on Persia and not Babylon is because, Persia took control over Babylon. Now Persia is in control of what Nebuchadnezzar once controlled the whole known world at that time. As the Lord God blessed Abraham for his faith so shall He do for us. God is saying I remember the promises I’ve made to you, I haven’t forgotten, I will fulfill them, I will bless you and I make them come to past. When the Lord gives us a high ranking position, which will happen soon says the Lord, by human standards it’s impossible, but when you have the Lord on your side and you trust him, you pray to him, you lean on him, you love him; he will give you an impossible blessing because that’s our God. When you are a child of God, impossible blessing’s come your way like with Esther. The book of Esther is a story of excellence. A story that shows God’s protection for his people through the most trying times. It has virtually all the ingredients that people through the ages loved most in a story. A beautiful and courageous heroine, a romantic love story, a dire threat to the characters, a thoroughly evil villain, suspense, dramatic irony, evocative descriptions of exotic places, sudden reversal of action, poetic justice and the beautiful happy ending. This type of story represented in the book of Esther is no doubt a hero’s tale. As the action is constructed around the engaging central figure of its hero, Esther’s story is also a patriotic one of national history. A rescue story in which a whole nation is delivered from destruction. Some historians have disputed that Esther story is a work of fiction, saying that Esther and Mordechai are really Greek gods Ishtar" and "Marduk. Yet Esther’s story shows up in other historical documents. See it’s the devil’s job to try and disapprove the Bible saying it is all a work of fiction to stop people from believing in God. But the Bible is the truth because it is God’s word, it is not a work of fiction. These are true life stories to help us and teach us how to defeat the devil and his demons and how to succeed in life with God’s help. The story of Esther is a journey of an ordinary girl becoming extraordinary with God’s help. This story is about Providence, Providence means the protective care of God, it also means the timely preparation for future eventualities. With Esther’s story, God is showing us how something impossible became possible. Remember Esther was an orphaned child and her uncle Mordechai adopted her as his daughter. They were in a foreign land not their own, yet a young orphan girl bound for greatness becomes Queen. She was a nobody but with God’s help became a somebody. God’s is telling us this morning with Esther’s story, though it appears we are a nobody, God will make us great because as my mother always told us we are somebody, we are the head and not the tail, we are above only and not beneath. God is telling us through Esther’s story that though you are in an impossible situation and you don’t know how you’re going to get out, God is going to bring you out of that situation, making it possible when by human standards it’s not. Remember there is nothing impossible for God. What’s impossible for us is possible with God. The Lord is about to elevate us into a high position like Esther. He’s about to give us our hearts desire, something we have been believing for, for awhile. In God’s word Romans 4:17 He says call those things as be not as though they were. All this means is using your faith and trusting in God, walking by faith and not by sight. You use your faith to call impossible things to come to past because God said, ask and it will be given unto you, seek and you shall find, knock and the door will be opened unto you. God is saying this morning call those things as be not as though they were and I will give them to you. Remember Abraham, God called him out of his land to follow him then God blessed him. As it says in Romans 4:18 Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations, just as it had been said to him, “So shall your offspring be.”d 19Without weakening in his faith, he faced the fact that his body was as good as dead—since he was about a hundred years old—and that Sarah’s womb was also dead. 20Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, 21being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised. 22This is why “it was credited to him as righteousness. |
